BLOG 5 - Changes To My Study Programme

When I think about things I would change about my study programme a lot of things came to my mind, I'm already at my sixth year of university and the first thing is the lenght of the carreer, and it's a topic that is discussed a lot, the composition studies are too long, it's a 7 years carreer with a syllabus that could be improved to be shorter. There are a lot of classes that could be taken earlier, and that is another topic I would like to talk about. Some of the classes in the syllabus seem like they're scrambled, and that make the academic charge really heavy. In the first year of composition we have 3 or 4 different classes, and in the fourth year we have 8 or 9 different classes. Fourth and fifth year are the more difficult because of the academic charge. Also a lot of the classes are necessary to be taken earlier, like didactics, because a lot of us make a living doing particular classes.

Other big problem the university have is the infrastructure, the faculty is really ugly and small for the amount of students it holds, we do no even have a campus with green areas. This is a big problem for people like me that live far from the university. A lot of times I have free time between classes and is not fun or relaxing to spend that time in the middle of the street with cars passing literaly at your side.

Even though there are a lot of bad things to critizice, there's also good things. The teachers are really good in their area and the classes too. And the syllabus is nicely organized with a good structure of the most important classes like solfege, harmony or counterpoint, even thought some classes seem kind of antiquated or the focus is too eurocentric for the actual society.
